Tim Holtz - Movie Mogul.....

I absolutely loved this - its on the Tim Holtz blog......

Tim Holtz

For those that dont already know, every year since 2007 Tim creates the '12 Tags of Christmas', which are daily instructions on creating little pieces of altered art on a typical brown luggage tag, one for each day from the 1st December to the 12th December.

They are really worth tuning into just for the ideas on using ranger inks and paints if nothing else.  Tim does a photographic step by step for each of the tags.

I love them and usually use a couple of the techniques in my christmas projects.

You can see his other years work here;-

What's really interesting is seeing how his style has evolved over the few years that he's been doing them.  Anyways, have a look, I'm sure there's something that he will do that will interest us!

Ive made a few cards lately that you might be interested in, firstly Ive made loads of thank you cards and ATC's to thanks friends and family for my birthday presents.  They were all created using stamps from 'Lavinia Stamps' - her designs are gorgeous!!    Lavinia Stamps

I used black stazon and stamped the images  randomly onto white cardstock, stamping three times before re-inking.  As you can see you get more prominent darker images and then other ones which almost fade into the background.  I also used perfect pearls in opal sprinkled with Glamour dust whilst still wet for the little sparkles.

This next one is the the centre of a birthday card I made for Sarah where I decoupaged the magnolia.  This was really easy, if a little longwinded as there are about three or four layers in some parts which means three or four lots of water coloured painting!

Next here's a birthday card I made for Georgina which has been watercoloured and has hand cut bunting - check out the grass and wildflowers!

Lastly I had to make a card in 10 minutes from scratch this morning so mum could get it to the post, heres the watercoloured detail of the teddy
Both of the teddy stamps were stamped for my by the lovely Jo Mcnally.

Welcome to Sylvia of lotjes dolls house

Syliva's work is YUM YUM YUM!!!  make sure to check out her 'Chambre de Seraphine' and on the way please have a look at her shabby bathroom!  I absolutely love all the little detail that goes into her work!

Miniature Xmas Trees

One of the girls from the Dolls House Emporium Forum has given us a link to some mini christmas trees that would look perfect outside (or inside!) a dolls house.  Apparently they look the same as some that have been at recent miniature fairs, with a little bit of ribbon decoration ect and are selling for £5 each!!!  Have to ask Kev if he'll pop into Asda for me!!

Happy dance.....(well hop actually!!!!)

Having the best mini day ever!!!  (well its probably one of my first ones, ha ha!) first thing this morning two of my ebay miniature purchases arrived, Im really pleased with both bits and they are perfect for altering!

When mum came over at lunchtime she told me that last night at club, Sharon had given her a little present for me - Sharon's just returned home from a holiday in the US.  Sharon had bought me some lovely mirrors. - Big thankyou hun, they are lovely!

Then mum suddenly remembers to tell me that there's a dolls house in a cupboard in her back bedroom that's been there for years,  which was full of dolls house furniture, and did I want it?  She got it from an elderly lady years ago who used to collect but had to go into a residential home and didn't have room for it an longer.  Mum had been saving it for a grand-daughter.....(!)

So off Mum goes and returns with two shopping bags (gulp!) full of fab stash!!!!  It was christmas morning with the two of us going through the bags and the two biscuit tins that were inside.

Now the majority of it isn't perfect quality, however once I have a chance to paint and refurb, hopefully Ill be able to use most of it in one project or another!

I am chuffed to bits, and if I didn't have a broken ankle I defiantly would be doing a happy dance! however I'm content to sit on the sofa and hand jive at the moment!!!!

Love the little leather biking jacket!  really appropriate as Im a biker b!tch!!!  ha ha!! And notice the ginormous sweet corn - I think they would be about 18" in size if they were to scale!!!

Now heres the weird bit.....there was a number of china dolls house dolls in the bag, however a few of them didnt have heads, arms or legs.............We have no idea what happened to the missing apendages.......But Ive kept them in case I do a horror house later!  ha ha!!! waste not want not!!!!

Welcome to Lara of Lara's Miniature World.  For my scrapping buddies, Lara has one of the loveliest miniaturists blogs going, and her blog was one of the ones that really got me interested in miniatures two months ago! so big thankyou to Lara for sharing all her goodies!  You can look at Lara's blog here

Hi & tonights kit!

Big thanks to Jannene and Mum for a sterling job running the club tonight.  Sorry to hear about the heating, Ill try and find out whats happening before next club night, and let you know.

Here's as promised is the photo of the finished layout.  It's based on a beautiful design by Amanda Muirhead of the Prima Design Team, which uses the same prima papers etc.  The flowers are chalked to co-ordinate with the papers. The title is from cricut cartridge 'Home Decor'.  If you don't have this cartridge, then Sharon is taking orders and will cut out the title for you on black cardstock for just 20p! a bargain!

Detail of chalked flowers

Hope you enjoyed the evening, and hopefully Ill be back on my feet before the heritage night!

To Tracey! hope you enjoy the blog!

This weeks kit - what you need......

Ive made a single page layout, but with some jiggling theres plenty there for a double page layout.  For those that are doing this weeks club kit you need the following:-

one 4x6" landscape photo
Chalks - I used a soft peachy rose colour and a bit of burgandy (but not much!)
Needle and embroidery floss - I used a soft light peach, but a cream or rose colour would be fine
Pokey tool (paper piercing tool!) and foam mat or mouse mat

Ill post a photo of the completed layout next week! enjoy club on Monday and dont forget to put your name down for the Christmas Party!

Welcome to Sarah, founder of Scrapaholix!, Alison and Lisa - hope you enjoy!

Last Weeks Club Kit and Sneak Peek!

Last Weeks Kit

Last weeks club kit was designed especially for Scrapaholix by the Bo Bunny design team.  Its a lovely mix of tropical colours with some fab Bazzil gems accents.  We were lucky to have instructions for the kit written by Sarah, as Im still off with my broken Ankle - Im sure you all enjoyed the 'break' away from me - ha ha!  There are just two kits left, let me know if you want one of them before they are returned.

Sneak Peek

This weeks kit is by Prima and uses their brand new line, Fairy Fauna - its Gorgeous! and one I picked out for club myself!  I havent done anything with the kit yet but I have a few ideas!  As Im still out of action, Monday's class will be taught by Jannene, but everyone will have instructions again to guide you through.

Ill update the blog again once Ive designed the layout, so you know what to bring on Monday.

Rolled flowers tutorial

A few gals have been asking me about the flowers that were on the recent layout that we did at club a few weeks ago.  Ive found the flower tutorial for the rolled flowers on this blog - (sorry I don't know the blog holders name! so apologies but thanks for the tutorial!)

Flower tutorial

They were basically created using a 3" square, cut into a spiral and rolled.  The lighter colour ones were cut using a pair of wavy edge sizzors.  There were a lot more flowers when I started, but unfortunatly Millie our cat took a shine to them and knicked a few before I had a chance to glue them in position.......

The lace that you can just see in the second photo, is actually white paper lace, I just used the back of a spoon to run it along a Tim Holtz distress ink in antique linen.

The photo is one we took in Majorca, a lovely alley with adobe walls, the sepia is slightly darker than I would have liked, so Ill probably lighten it slightly and re-do the photo again.
